  • The government wants to build quarantine units on a vacant site that the resort had planned on using for an expansion.
  • Lawmakers had previously proposed using its hotels to house people who may be infected.

  • Hong Kong has confirmed 56 cases of the coronavirus and one death from it, while the virus has now infected more than 67,000 people and killed more than 1,500, mostly in mainland China.

  • Hong Kong officials have also proposed using cruise ships to quarantine people, which could include its own residents brought back from parts of China or people from mainland China trying to get into the city.
